Star Wars: The Last Jedi might be just around the corner, but the blockbusting sequel boxing fans really want to see is the rematch between Gennady Golovkin and Saul Alvarez. Well, Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya has delivered some good news, the fight seems to be agreed for May 5th 2018 a the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas. Speaking at his annual Thanksgiving turkey giveaway, De La Hoya said,
"We are working on it for Cinco de Mayo next year. In Las Vegas, same place - T-Mobile (Arena) but that fight is definitely going to happen.
It's going to be huge. If people didn't see the first one, wait until you see the second one."
The first fight was a hotly disputed draw, after Golovkin appeared to edge the fight. Both men made no secret of their desire to meet again, but there was the entirely plausible possibility of one or both of them taking an easier fight in the meantime as negotiations went on. Oscar's announcement will be music to the ears of boxing fans the world over.
The Oscar De La Hoya foundation distributed over 600 turkeys to poorer families in East Los Angeles and 150 more to local churches, schools and organisations ahead of Thanksgiving, this Thursday 23rd November.
