Dubois To End Joshua's Reign?

Ahead of his appearance against 12-5-1 (1) Dorian Darch on Frank Warren's 9th December show at the Copperbox Arena, London, Daniel Dubois has been being talked up by his promoter. Dubois, 5-0 (5) is only 20 years old but took just forty five seconds to beat AJ Carter for the Southern Area title in his last fight. Dubois has also won the WBC youth world heavyweight title, and does seem destined for big things.

Dubois and Anthony Joshua have sparred in the past, and according to a report in the Daily Telegraph, Warren claims Dubois put the world champion down. Now Warren is claiming “Dynamite” (DDD) will end Joshua's reign within a year. Speaking at a press conference to announce the show yesterday Frank said,

“Do not worry about Joshua running out of opponents. I think Dubois could be ready in 12 months' time. I'd put him in with Parker after five more fights. There are always question marks and things to answer but I have a talent here, mark my words.”

Clearly confident of his young charge's ability, Warren went on to say, “I have a heavyweight who has Joshua's number and he just needs more experience and he'll be ready to fight him."

It would make for a mouthwatering fight, if Dubois continues to progress and impress, but he may need to solidify a mandatory position to draw Joshua into agreement. There is also the six foot seven matter of Deontay Wilder to deal with first for AJ.

The December show is headlined by former Olympian and IBF super middleweight world champion James DeGale and IBF featherweight world champion Lee Selby. Anthony Yarde, the heavy hitting London light heavy, will contest the WBO inter-continental title against Nikola Sjekloca. So far the card is stacking up nicely, expect several of the Warren stable prospects to be added, too.
