New Hellraiser Signing Khan Raring to go on 10th February

Daniel Khan has a new manager who believes the Loughton super-featherweight has a bright future ahead of him.

The 21 year old has joined Mickey Helliet and he rates Khan as one of the best prospects in his stable of around 70 fighters.

Khan boxes on Helliet’s show at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on Saturday, February 10 – and that looks to be the start of a busy year for the former Hoddesdon amateur.

“Mickey says that by the end of the year I should be 10-0,” said Khan, “and then we can look to push on and fight for titles in 2019.

“I know I’m going to win titles in my career.

“I’m putting the work in in the gym.”

Khan trains with Barry Smith at West Ham Boys Club and has boxing in his blood.

He is the second youngest of five boxing brothers and said: “I started going to the gym when I was eight.

“I got home from school one day and mum said: ‘You’re going boxing.’ I’ve been going ever since.

“My brothers all won titles, but once they got to 18, they didn’t want to box anymore.

“I always wanted to turn pro and I want titles.

“I should have won titles in the amateurs, but I kept getting robbed.”

Khan turned pro with former amateur coach Jamie Sambrook before switching to Smith who has him sparring former world-title contender John Wayne Hibbert.

“John has been there and done it,” said Khan, “and sparring him is really bringing me on.”

Tickets for the show at the York Hall in Bethnal Green are available from 07891 514745.
