Rylan Charlton says he plans to flatten whoever’s put in front of him in his professional boxing career.
He had a puncher’s reputation as an amateur with Norwich Lads – and made an explosive start to his paid career.
He banged out Paul Docie inside two rounds in July – and the 25 year old hopes for a repeat performance when he fights at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on Saturday, October 6.
“You’re supposed to get rounds under your belt when you first turn pro,” said the fighting chef.
“But I would rather not.
“I want to stop everyone I get in the ring with. I don’t get paid for over time and I don’t really want to be in the ring any longer than I have to.
“I train for 10 or 12 rounds, but I plan to get it over with one or two rounds.
“I’m not a big fan of getting punched in the face !”
Charlton dished out more punishment than he took on his debut, finishing the fight with a right hand and is looking forward to facing hard Welshman Rhys Saunders next.
“Fighting with 8ozs gloves on is fun,” he said.
“I was knocking people out in the amateurs when I was wearing 12 ozs gloves and they had head guards and I feel I can knock anyone out with 8 ozs gloves.
“I’ve always been a big puncher and I just have to keep my hands up and make sure I don’t get hit with too many myself !”
Charlton says he’s been fighting all his life.
“I got bullied when I was a kid,” he said, “and when I grew up, I was short and stocky and people used to pick fights with me.
“I think when some people see a bit of muscle they want to test themselves.
“I was fighting all the time and boxing got me on the straight and narrow.”
